Eureka!: This exclamation is most famously attributed to the ancient Greek scholar Archimedes; he reportedly proclaimed "Eureka!" when he stepped into a bath and noticed that the water level rose—he suddenly understood that the volume of water displaced must be equal to the volume of the part of his body he had submerged. This meant that the volume of irregular objects could be measured with precision, a previously intractable problem. He is said to have been so eager to share his realisation that he leapt out of his bathtub and ran through the streets of Syracuse naked. (Courtesy: www.wikipedia.com)
As(s) I was now trying to figure out how to tame my mind in doing my job, I stumbled upon the Flylady system of organizing work out of chaos that actually explained the Concentration, Meditation and Samadhi part of the Scarf work Process. Three things were mentioned there which corresponded with the 3 things of the Pathanajali Yoga system -- Exactly!
Those 3 things were - Reminders (for Concentration), Routine (for Meditation) and Decluttering (for Samadhi).
Even the order was the same.
The Dharana (Concentration) stage is when the object of meditation has to be repeatedly brought back to focus to the mind -- setting up Reminders will do that job. The Dhyana (Meditation) stage is when the mind is fixed on (joined with) the object of meditation -- Getting into a Routine as habit does just that. The Samadhi (sorry no exact easy English translation) stage is when all that exists is the core, when everything, both the object of meditation and the meditating person is merged as one -- Declutter or simplify everything.
Maybe I'm not able to explain clearly with 99.97% of my mind alright. But I believe that my mind's quality is better than the hand-wash soap that you are using which promises an efficiency of removing 99% germs. If you don't trust my 99.97% efficient brain, you can atleast trust the wisdom of the 212, 351 people who 'Like' the FlyLady on Facebook :)

By the way, I haven't yet tried it. But I have no doubt that it work.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I lied. . .The Dettol liquid hand-wash soap promises to remove 99.99% of the germs :)
ReplyDeleteYour soap is still safer than my mind. But that's going to change, hopefully soon ;)
